Johnny Cash - Hurt

I'm not feeling too well, nothing serious, just a sore throat and a few aches and pains. Plus, an interesting project that I've just heard of, and want to keep schtum about, for the time being has appeared over the horizon. Hence no original content today, and since my 46th birthday.

I'm reminded of a conversation I had with a work colleague about Johnny Cash, a day or so. "If you're serious about music, you have to have some Johnny Cash in your collection". He was right, after listening to a lot of his stuff on youtube I've ordered some cds from Amazon.co.uk.

Here's my favourite Johnny Cash video. It upsets me everytime I view, or listen to it. The NIN original is excellent, but this is the definiative version in my book. Very evocative and poignant.

Luxuria - Beast Box

Didn't even know this vid existed, thought I'd share before it's taken down. A must for Magazine / Howard Devoto fans from a time when music was all about pushing the boundaries and record companies didn't dictate what we listened to ( not that that meant a stuff to me).......

It's my birthday so I'll post what I bleedin' well want to

One of my fave MOR songs, now this is music...... There's a Bill Nelson / Be Bop Deluxe connection with this song .....

This very moment (Version 2)......

.....3 years ago I saw my favourite musician, Bill Nelson, play live for the first time. The occasion - Nelsonica 03, the venue the - Duke of Cumberland pub, North Ferriby near Hull, East Yorkshire. Can't believe it was that long ago, seems like yesterday. Doesn't time fly?

Anyroad, trawling my divine archive I thought I'd post some images I took that day on my old Fuji APS camera and had transcribed onto cd. The gig was a very intimate affair, think the images capture that feel. More a party of friends than a gig. Enjoy.

My neighbourhood

Another shot taken this evening at iso 800, handheld hence the 'noise' in the image. The grain of the image somehow compliments the grim, industrial imagery.

It's all in the detail

Love is in the air

I was mucking about with 'Winona' yesterday after work. Took some snaps, using the 10.7x optical zoom to frame the images, s9500 set on auto everything. After uploading the results to my pc I wasn't particularly impressed with the results, image quality great, but the subject matter didn't exactly 'float my boat', and I'd no intention of posting mundane images.

Anyroad, whilst looking at the results just now I spotted a little detail in a small portion of one of my bridge images. I faffed about with it, cropping heavily and voila. It's a kind of post modern, urban planning type image of love in the 21st century. What's your take?

Railway bridge

Took this snap a week or so ago on my point 'n shoot. It's an old, but still used freight railway bridge on the way to work. Very overgrown, weeds, usual council fence erected to stop the glue sniffers congregating, sort of stuff. Lends itself well to b/w.

Haven't taken any images with 'Winona' I want to post yet, but it's early days. Feeling a tad self conscious carrying the beast around. It lends itself to a different type of photography.
