The rain, favourable light, and some interesting architecture....

What could have been a 'washout', a wet Sunday in York, rapidly improved when I visited the York Art Gallery, not far from the Yorkshire Museum Gardens. The art gallery is surprisingly small for a major city (the Ferens in Hull seems much bigger and has more exhibits) but I enjoyed my visit nonetheless. Outside the rain had stopped, took a snap of some Japanese tourists photographing themselves outside the gallery building.

Took this shot of
York Minster not long afterwards. The piled up chairs give the image a continental European feel in my opinion. Could be anywhere in France, Belgium for that matter....
