Knot
Image captured today whilst out on a long walk around Bransholme, Sutton on Hull, and the Ings Road area of Hull. Like my other posts today it's been converted from colour. But I was curious as to how it would look in terms of texture.
I'm so glad I don't drive to, or from work. There's something sad about these tin boxes, the futility of it all. I bet some of the occupants aren't travelling as far as I'm walking, or at times as fast as I walk?
Anyway, before I start going on about damage to the environment, global warming...............here's some more images from a typical winters day, travelling to and from work. Depressing isn't it?
Took this image only a few minutes prior to the previous images. Wasn't sure about posting it, but what the heck. I like the way the sunlight warms the wall to the right of the image, and the contrast of the murky river and muddy bank. Tides out.
For a change here are some images of Hull that aren't bleak and industrial. Took these yesterday, about 4.30ish in the afternoon. The sun is low in the sky, hence the long shadows.
Queens Gardens used to be a dock around the turn of the 1900's until it was filled in to make one of my favourite parts of the city's centre. In summer it's usually full of people, concerts of the musical variety are held there at The Mick Ronson Memorial. Fitting for the guy who was one of David Bowie's 'Spiders from Mars'. Enjoy, I may post some more images come summer. Ciao pop pickers.
This image wasn't taken with a digital SLR, just an ordinary (well I think so) 'point 'n shoot' in macro mode with a lot of cropping. I'm still amazed by the image quality.
Thought I'd do some macro photography for a change. A few views of the same objects, but from a different angle, the second image is manipulated in B/W. All images are cropped.
A big thankyou to Mark over at the February Blogathon for making this Six Legged Critter the featured site on his blog. Please pop in, by clicking on these links or the link in my sidebar. There are some particularly amusing 'photoshops' and some very wonderful satire with a US slant that even this Brit can appreciate. Nice one Mark.
I must admit to a sneaking admiration for civil engineering. The Clough Road bridges are just a stone's throw from the'Jazz Joint' and as such I see them every day on my walk to work. Although I don't actually cross them that often. I took these images today, on my way to PC World to buy some extensions to my pc internal power supply for some 'gubbins' I just bought (techno babble for a 'USB 2.0 / Firewire' card).
It was a crap, miserable, dull day. Hence having to faff around with the brightness of the images on my pc to get something worth posting.
Yours truly, has nowt better to do of a foggy late night? My usual drill, images cropped, no manipulation. Very red, but that is what you get with sodium lamps.
Thought I'd mess about with my digicam, take some photos of 'Winona'. Came up with this closeup, it's obvious what it is, so I'm not going to be pretentious and call it an 'abstract'. It does however, illustrate the shortcomings of using a point 'n shoot digicam. Still, I quite like it, the curves and contours, blah, blah, diddy blah. Have fun 'poppickers'.
